5 Months
At five months old, Baby Gus
--has started to grow a head of thicker, very blond hair and has officially lost the row of dark hair along the top of his neck
--LOVES reading books. He kicks his legs and gets so excited anytime a book is in front of him
--inconsistently rolls both from belly to back and back to belly, except when Jack is around to "help" him out, then he's consistent
--sleeps only 3, maybe 4, hours at night. I attribute this to two things:
1)He has gotten strong enough to break out of his swaddle, then can't settle down to sleep. I always thought swaddling was a good thing. I never realized at some point I would have to wean from the swaddle. And then, after he breaks out of his swaddle, the first thing he does his take the paci out of his mouth. Arghh.
2)I haven't been very strict on my no-dairy diet. Sorry Gus, there's just too much homemade ice cream around here.
--supports his weight on his feet and loves to stand up
--sleeps with his eyes slit open
--thinks peek-a-boo is so, so funny
--reaches for anything near him
--is still VERY gassy (oops...may be the dairy again), still averages one diaper explosion per day, and still has the best, biggest, toothless grin EVER! We really love him.

oh, so cute! he really is his own little man, isn't he?
3 or 4 hours a night? that really stinks for you. but he really is so, so cute. when do i get to see his sweet face again?
same same with lucy and the swaddling/paci dilemma at that age. why do babies have to be so naughty? at least he's cute...otherwise you might have to give him a little spanking. haha
