Ice Skating!

April was here this weekend for a visit. I sat down to do the post about her visit and realized one of our activities deserves a post all of its own. While she was here, we decided to go ice skating down at the Embarcadero Center--another San Francisco Christmas activity I've always wanted to do. And as it turns out, it's a good thing we waited for April to join us. I don't know if my pregnant back could have taken more than one time around the rink supporting a little boy without a lot of help. So, thank you, thank you April for being such a good SoCal sport up in the chilly NorCal weather!

Max loved the entire thing. This boy has no fear. He wanted to skate by himself the entire time, but settled for slow rides around the rink with me and April, fast rides from Daddy Blake, and ALWAYS walking/running around on the non-slippery ground by himself. He kept testing his skills by stepping on the ice by himself to see if he could take it and by the end he actually was getting pretty good. He is getting so big.

Now little Jack, he was the one who was a riot. That boy did not like his skates. At all. At first, the only place he was happy was sitting in his stroller. Then, after Blake took him around (once holding him on his hip and another time holding him with Jack's feet on the ground) and I took him a little stretch, the only place he was happy was cuddling with me on the bench. Doesn't his poor little face say it all?

But we couldn't let those cute little skates go to waste. I tried to take a picture of him away from the ice, still not happy. Then, Blake whisked him away and they went FAST around the rink. When Blake asked him if he wanted to go again he said yes. And yes again, and again, and again. I think he even cracked a smile once to let us know he was having a good time. I love Christmas in San Francisco.
