A Simple Bean Drop-Off
When my parents asked if they could come this past weekend to drop off bottled beans and fruit from their garden, we had no idea it would turn into such an activity-filled, fun weekend. And I don't think they did either! We were constantly GOING! Even Max realized that the party was definitely not in his bed and didn't take a normal nap the entire time Grandpa and Grandma were here. Here are some of the highlights--
While Blake was finishing up some things at work, the rest of us went to the park. I was in heaven just sitting and not chasing, while Max showed Grandma all the park had to offer. Grandpa even saw a red-tailed hawk while we were there. This park has a little something for everyone!
Later we went to Golden Gate park for paddle boat rides in Stow Lake. Max loved being on the boat in the water and I felt so good that the treats from my bag attracted geese rather than pigeons, seagulls, and ducks. The geese would come up and eat the treats straight from your hand. Very well trained.
That night, after giving Max a quick snoozer and playing some TV Scene It (Blake and I won, by the way), we headed up north for some fish and chips and our favorite ice cream, and then to watch the sun set near Point Bonita Light House. It was a little cloudy, but still very pretty.
The next morning we headed south to Santa Cruz. The first stop was the Mystery Spot where "gravity defies nature right before your eyes." Grandpa, Blake, and Max were even volunteers in some of the demonstrations. We definitely left the Mystery Spot questioning the world around us.
Next on the day-of-fun was the most fun part, the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. This was Max's first trip to an amusement park and he did not disappoint us. He kept asking for more and more rides. And the ones he couldn't go on by himself, lucky Blake got to go with him. We were so surprised that his favorite turned out to be the little roller coaster that actually went quite fast. It was the only ride where he screamed when we made him get off. This kid is fearless! I see summers at Lagoon in his future!

Our last stop was at Pigeon Point Light House to watch another sun set. This one had much more color than the night before and was beautiful. We even saw some seals beached below the light house.

We are so happy Grandpa and Grandma decided to bring us some beans this weekend and are so glad they made it home safely. For dinner tonight we even had some beans to celebrate them coming. Thanks for the fun time!

geez. we can't compete with THOSE grandparents. life is a party when they're around! why are we such stick-in-the-muds? i wish we were more like them.
I love the picture of you three at sunset! Pretty soon there will be FOUR of you in them, we can't wait! Wish you were coming this weekend too, but we will settle for the boys... JK
We have been to that lighthouse. The views were gorgeous and makes for really cute pictures!
How fun! Next time we have visitors we are just going to follow that exact itinerary!
Wow, you guys really did pack in a lot! Looks like fun! I love the sunset pics.
i'm excited for my trip to SF so i can have so much fun too! but then again, i will be without on-the-go children, so maybe it will actually be relaxing...for me anyway. you'll still have max!
and i can't believe max went on all those rides by himself. wow. my girls would've been scared to death, maybe not of the rides, but that we weren't with them. way to be tough max, especially in your white muscle t-shirt.
Addi, when we did the paddleboats I was like 8 months pregnant, had to paddle and hold Sam at the same time. I think you had a much better experience. My tummy kept cramping up and we had to keep taking rests. We didn't make it Santa Cruz before we left. We'll have to do it next time. :)
Wow, what a great weekend! I call that I get to go to Lagoon with Max - not that I'm super fun on the rollercoasters - the place just has so many great memories for me, and I'd love to be there while Max makes some too...
i love maxs white tight shirt :) what great parents you have! and you guys are quite the entertainers! i cant wait to come and visit soon. love the pics and love you!
What a GREAT WEEKEND! WE LOVED IT! You are right about our not knowing just how packed full of fun and adventures we'd have! But we LOVED the WHOLE weekend! (Even the trip down and back weren't to bad.) We do hope you enjoy your food! We can't wait to see you when Brother comes! Nanny, rest assured that Max still loves you most! He even asked for you in the midst of all our fun! I'm just glad he has all of us to fuss over him! He is one lucky guy!
Grandma
That looks like such a fun time! We loved the paddle boats too. Hudson hasn't been to the Santa Cruz boardwalk yet, but it looks like fun!
