There Are Animals at the Zoo?

If there are, Max doesn't know it. Or maybe he just doesn't care. Yesterday for playgroup we went to free day at the zoo. Well, not the whole zoo. Mainly just the petting zoo. He was scared of the goats (mostly the only thing in the petting zoo) and would rather stand by the gate to let people in and out. Such a gentlemen. This is the only picture I got of him looking at the animals. Doesn't he look bored, resting his chin on the fence?
But don't worry. The trip wasn't a failure at all. What it was lacking in animals it made up in rain puddles. The splashing started out innocent. Just a stomp here and there...
Then, of course, the next logical step was a splash with the hands...
And hey, why not just get down on all fours? This zoo stuff is great!
And after all that splashing, or course Max was thirsty. We love the zoo!

Hooray for puddles! Even though Sam had on her galoshes, she still managed to get pretty wet. It's a talent, I think.

The puddles saved the zoo experience for sure yesterday. I don't know why we didn't get in and join them.

i feel an accordion book coming on. . . ."max at the zoo." how perfect would those progressive puddle pictures be for something like that?! the "max's firsts" book has been to the office, to the hospital, to m&co, to my friends', visiting teaching, and out in plain sight for family to see. good job of creating both children and books.

Max does look pretty bored at the zoo but good thing the rain saved the day. I love the progressive pics as mom says!

Obviously he was watching the goats more than you thought. What a bright boy to pick up on their behavior after such a short time.

I'm beginning to think that there is NEVER a dull moment for you guys! If life isn't turning out to be fun, or as they planned, they seem to always turn it into a great time anyway! Max is ALWAYS so positive, and full of fun and adventure!
Love you guys, and can't wait to see all of you!
